Homewards Fund Grant

Lightning Reach

Lightning Reach, a tech for good startup which enables individuals to easily apply for personalised grants and assistance for homelessness and other support to strengthen financial resilience, has been awarded a Homewards Fund grant in Lambeth.
The organisation will partner with Pocket Power, an inclusive phone service for people without access to the internet or smart phone, that offers a non-digital route to accessing financial support, supporting 2,000 lone parents in Lambeth.

People at risk of homelessness in Lambeth and who are digitally excluded and/or who require additional support to access services will benefit from access to a wide range of financial grants, benefits and additional support, tailored to individuals’ needs and circumstances. They will also be able to access support to reduce household bills and to apply for utility trust funds to wipe debt and secure new white goods, as well as a reduction in form filling for service users.

The proposed work aligns with the Homewards Lambeth local action plan by helping families access financial support which can help to maintain their home, manage their finances and support their wellbeing. The project has been endorsed by Lambeth Council.

“At Lightning Reach, we’ve already enabled over 5,000 Lambeth residents to find support and are excited to receive the Royal Foundation’s grant. This will fund our partnership work with Pocket Power to further support families at risk of homelessness and grow our impact within the borough, with an aim to scale up in other regions as well.”
