Sheffield has a population of around half a million, and estimates suggest that one in four people in the city live in poverty. Levels of poverty are getting worse, and this means that people are struggling to meet their basic needs. This is having a wider impact – including on people’s health and wellbeing – and therefore putting them at greater risk of homelessness.
The city has an extensive network of community-led organisations, providers, and public services working hard to reduce homelessness, but organisations are facing increasing demand for support.
Groups the Coalition has identified as most in need of support include families and young people.
