Firvale Community Hub
Firvale Community Hub have been awarded a Homewards Fund grant in Sheffield to employ two Tenancy Advice and Advocacy Officers who will support families, young people and other individuals who are at risk of homelessness, or are being resettled in Burngreave after a period of homelessness.
One advice worker will be based within Firvale Community Hub and one within Reach Up Youth, a Somali-led community organisation.
Firvale Community Hub is a trusted organisation within its diverse local community, with strong existing partnerships with local services. This project seeks to work in a way which enables earlier prevention of homelessness, as well as addressing repeat homelessness and will provide resource to unblock barriers for BAMER and disadvantaged communities in Burngreave.
“Firvale Communtiy Hub and Reach Up Youth are excited to start this project. We urgently need to scale up our work of working with people at risk of homelessess to ensure they retain their homes and improve their housing situations. Our partners in Shelter, the Council and local community organisations have helped so much to ensure that this is the best possible way to address these issues in Burngreave.”
