Housing Justice Cymru
Housing Justice Cymru has received a Homewards Fund grant in partnership with two charities in Newport. The new funding will integrate Housing Justice’s Citadel model with the HomeLife programme, delivered by Pobl and Barnado’s at Pobl’s community centre, The Hive.
The partnership will bring together the practical support available to families and children at the Hive, with support to access and sustain suitable accommodation in Newport, working with families in temporary accommodation, at risk of homelessness, or affected by housing insecurity, and with refugees and asylum seekers.
Individuals and families will receive support to end or prevent homelessness, and to transition to and maintain a new home, creating a place of comfort and safety. They will be provided with practical household facilities, skill-building workshops, digital inclusion interventions and pathways to employment.
The initiative aims to proactively reduce homelessness by encouraging independence and resilience, with a focus on building strong local support networks and community.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be working with Pobl and Barnardo’s to deliver this vital project in Newport. We believe that by providing the resources needed locally, communities themselves can play an integral role in ending homelessness and housing insecurity and create places people can truly feel they belong.”
– Stacey Webber, Performance Manager of Housing Justice Cymru
“Pobl is proud to partner with Housing Justice Cymru and Barnardo’s on this important initiative, strengthening our collective ability to offer support to families and individuals facing housing challenges in Newport. We have previously collaborated successfully with both organisations and share a common approach to tackling homelessness and its causes. We are committed to creating lasting change and fostering a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive in a safe and stable home.”
