The CEOs of some of the UK’s most renowned and respected homelessness sector organisations joined the Homewards team this week for a working breakfast.
The Homewards Sector Partners – 16 leading homelessness organisations who have partnered with Homewards to support the six flagship locations and help galvanise national and international momentum – received an update on the impact of the programme since launch and a look ahead at key plans and priorities in the coming months.
Amanda Berry, Chief Executive Officer of The Royal Foundation, thanked partners for all their support of the programme to date, and emphasized that if we want to see homelessness ended here in the UK, none of us can do it alone; it really will take a huge team effort.
The group was also asked to share which projects, initiatives, models, or other ideas excite them that they would like to see piloted, scaled or replicated in the UK, that the Homewards Team should be aware of as the six Homewards local coalitions begin to develop their Action Plans.
The group discussed a wide range of themes – from housing supply to data and analytics, employment pathways to lived experience and participation – and identified a plethora of ideas that will help to inform the Homewards action planning moving forward.
The meeting also explored how the homelessness sector might develop an even stronger joint strategic communications platform to help change the narrative around homelessness in the UK and increase optimism that it can be ended.
The meeting was filled with ideas and optimism, and reaffirmed the commitment of our Sector Partners to support the programme in its mission to demonstrate that together it is possible to end homelessness – making it rare, brief, and unrepeated.
