Homewards Fund supports popular discount app launch in Lambeth to help residents with everyday costs

Across Lambeth, many households face increasing pressure from everyday costs, which may push people into homelessness. To help ease the burden, Housing Perks and Lambeth Council, supported by Homewards, have partnered to launch the popular Housing Perks discount app in the borough. The initiative has the potential to support 45,000 households across Lambeth.

Through the free Housing Perks app, Lambeth residents can earn discounts when shopping with over 100 retailers, including major supermarkets online or in-store. The discounts earned go straight towards reducing rent arrears for tenants. Soon, it will also help eligible residents on Council Tax Support to pay Council Tax arrears for the first time, thanks to a grant from the Homewards Fund. This initiative innovatively uses data to reduce debt, preventing homelessness for households in Lambeth.

Homewards has helped scale up the initiative to reach more people who need it most and show a new way to help prevent homelessness. With three million people in the UK currently in Council Tax arrears and at risk of losing their homes, solutions like this show what’s possible when we work together.
