Homewards joins the International Journal on Homelessness Conference in Chile for 2025

Pim Gregory, Executive Director for Homelessness at The Royal Foundation, alongside Lizzie Jordan, Senior Research and Impact Manager for Homewards, represented Homewards at the International Journal on Homelessness Conference for 2025.
Hosted this year in Santiago, Chile, the second convening of this biennial conference offered a platform for international knowledge sharing on preventing, reducing, and ending homelessness in all corners of the globe.
Open to all disciplines and knowledge systems that target preventing and ending homelessness, presenters at the conference tied their own experiences and research to larger debates and global challenges of homelessness in hope of contributing to a collective, positive impact in this space.
Speaking in a concurrent learning session on the first day of the conference, we shared with attendees the Homewards approach to ending homelessness through creating a locally led programme that convenes all sectors of society, including business, under a shared ambition to prevent homelessness.
Sharing the stage with Homewards was DePaul’s Mark Robinson, Director of International Programmes, who spoke to evidencing outcomes in diverse environments within the homelessness sector.
With almost 400 others attending this exciting event, the conference offered many other opportunities for learning thanks to the array of diverse perspectives in attendance – from people with lived experience to practitioners to policymakers and researchers.
This experience gave Homewards the opportunity to contribute to much wider conversations on best practice and creating long-lasting impact. However, it also allowed us to see in real time that the programme’s priorities are shared globally, reinforcing that together it really is possible to end homelessness; making it rare, brief and unrepeated.
